We are such different people…
John was born and raised in southern Ontario and got his start in TV when he turned a university project into an award-winning half-hour YTV series.
Suzanne was born and raised in the southern US and after earning her MFA in Dramatic Writing from New York University, she got her TV-feet wet at MTV, Lorimar and Scholastic Productions in NYC.
Actually, in a lot of ways we are polar opposites…
| Proud dad to a son | Proud mom to a daughter |
| Cat | Dog |
| Cottage | City |
| Not roller coasters | Roller coasters |
| Cat videos | Sesame Street, Always Sunny, Detectorists, Superstore |
| Pretentious B&W mid-century European art movies, cartoons | Galaxy Quest, Remains of the Day, In the Mood for Love, Abigail, Idiocracy, All of Us Strangers, RRR |
| Used to also direct | Will never, ever direct, you can’t make me |
But what we do share is a mission:
To make stuff with heart and humour that means something and makes people think.
It’s something we’ve been doing together for over thirty years, and we’ve accumulated more than 600 produced credits on over 50 different TV series in Toronto, New York and Los Angeles. (Not even kidding. I know! Right?)
In everything we do we lead with curiosity and a desire to give back. (We’re both mentors and John is also a co-founder of the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) Kids TV Bootcamp.) And we’re still working together after all these years – probably because we write like kids but act like grownups.
